CDbaby.com - I found many fine tango albums on this site, mostly by the tango artists, who work outside of Argentina. Plenty of excellent non-tango music, too. Some albums are downloadable, some on CDs only.

Amazon.com is a one-stop shopping for CDs, MP3s, books and movies. I used it forever.

TodoTango.com is the great source of tango information and music. The tracks (of lower resolution) are free (if you know how to save them on your computer), but they are passable to listen via headphones. TodoTango also has mega-collections of MP3 tango discs for sale - THE BEST DEAL around for the classical Argentine tangos.

TangoStore.com is a Argentine-Tango-ONLY mega-store of CDs. No MP3s, alas.
WARNING: the shipping costs a fortune, so to make the whole purchase "profitable" you have to order at least 6 CDs.
ANOTHER WARNING: sometimes the seller substitutes CDs with almost identical in stock.

iTunes is the music lovers' favorite retailer, THE site for the iPod owners.
A WORD OF WARNING: do not give iTunes gift certificates to those who do not have and/or do not want this service. It is a PURE torture to redeem them. The gift is useless without iTunes software installed.
eMusic - reasonably good selection of tango and non-tango music as well as some audiobooks at very reasonable subscription prices (about 50-60c/song).
No DRM keys in MP3s - makes it convenient to edit music.
