"The
tango has the power to pull two strangers together into one,
to dance
out their desires...to be great lovers and heroes, if
only for
a moment. It's the whisper of sensuality brought
on by
the hint of perfume. The tango is also the glamour
of the
ballroom and the allure of the underworld. It's
the
opulence of Paris and the smoky darkness of a
Buenos
Aires cafe. It's the world of subtle metaphors
that
captures the melancholy heart."

This
Is The Tango slides from simple, steamy music
enjoyed by those on the margins of society to
elaborate ballroom arrangements.
Argentinean-born Guadalupe Jolicoeur is
your perfect tango partner with her warm voice
and knowledgeable commentary. October 30th, '98
on CBC Radio Two she hosted a special concert
presentation of Piazzolla's seldom heard
'operita' 'Maria
de Buenos AIres'.

Jolicoeur is very interested in Latin American
cultural issues and has traveled to Argentina,
Brazil and Cuba to research and write about
popular music. She comes from a musical family
and is currently studying tango dance.

Sin paliativos, la CBC,
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation,
ha emitido una serie de 3 programas
dedicados al tango, realmente
maravillosos debidos a la mano de
la escritora Guadalupe Jolicoeur."
