Marta Savigliano - Don Beto: his city, his women and his tangos

Who were the first men and women who danced tango? What Buenos Aires was like when they lived and danced there?

The program is based on Marta Savigliano's essay about her paternal grandfather, which I found in her book "Tango: Political Economy of Passion". The accompanying music and the lyrics are the part of her essay. the rest of the material for this program is found in the same book and in Robert Farris Thompson's "Tango".

Track 1: Marta Savigliano - "My First Steps in Tango"

Track 2: "Buenos Aires and its forbidden dance circa 1900"

Track 3: "The first tangueras: La Moreira"
